Transmission Diagnosis and Repair in Dallas, TX

Transmission is the most expensive word in this trade, which is exactly why it should be diagnosed before it is believed.

Transmission repair in Dallas, TX

A slipping transmission is one of the few faults where the diagnosis and the guess can be thousands of dollars apart. Sensors, solenoids, valve bodies and fluid all produce symptoms that read like a failed gearbox. We rule those out first, because the cheapest transmission repair is the one you did not need.

How we approach a transmission complaint

01

Describe the symptom

Slipping, delayed engagement, a harsh or flaring shift and a warning light are all different problems with different costs.

02

Diagnose before condemning

We read the codes, check the fluid and road test the vehicle. Plenty of transmission complaints turn out to be sensors, solenoids or fluid rather than the gearbox itself.

03

You get the honest picture

If it is a small repair we tell you. If it is a large one we tell you that too, along with what it would take and whether the vehicle is worth it.

04

You decide

Transmission work is expensive enough that nobody should be rushed into it. No work begins until you approve it.

Nobody should be rushed into a repair this size. You get the full picture before you decide.

What Our Customers Say on Google

Transmission questions we get asked

My transmission is slipping. Does it need replacing?

Not necessarily. Slipping can come from low or degraded fluid, a failing solenoid, a valve body fault or a sensor sending bad data, and each of those is a far smaller job than a transmission. Diagnosis comes first, and we will tell you honestly which one you are looking at.

Do you rebuild transmissions?

Tell us the vehicle and the symptom and we will explain exactly what the repair path looks like for it, including anything we would send out. Call 214-821-5052.

How often should transmission fluid be changed?

It varies widely by vehicle, and some manufacturers describe the fluid as lifetime fill while still having a practical service interval. Tell us the vehicle and we will tell you what it actually calls for.

Is it worth repairing a transmission on an older vehicle?

Sometimes it is and sometimes it is not, and the honest answer depends on the vehicle, its condition and what else is due. We will give you the numbers and our view rather than pushing you toward the bigger invoice.

Can you work on European transmissions?

Yes. ESS started as European Specialty Service in 1995. European drivetrains and their electronic controls are routine work here.

Where are you located?

4020 Main St, Dallas TX 75226, in Downtown Dallas near Main Street and Haskell Avenue. Open Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM.

Been told you need a transmission?

Bring it here before you commit. We will diagnose it and tell you what it actually needs.
